o Prof. Dr. KIMIO KONDO, Diretor de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento
do NIME - National Institute of Multimedia Education (do Japão)

Resumo:

SCS is an inter-university satellite network  It was financed in 1995 by
the Ministry of Education based on the results of research in the National
Institute of Multimedia Education.

Its operation was initially launched with 51 sites in 37 institutions in
October, 1996, with the number of stations in the network scheduled to
increase year by year.

By the end of 1998, stations at 139 sites in 116 institutions have been
connected, including 13 sites in 12 private universities and 1 site in
University of the Air.
