Uma outra alternativa, tambem bastante robusta e free pode ser o vyatta.
http://www.vyatta.com/
É uma solução bastante robusta, inclusive com comparativos com Cisco 7204 
G1/G2.
E não necessitaria instalar nenhuma distribuição.
